Wolverhampton Branch Chair Dies
It is with deep regret that we report the death of Dave Powell, a long-standing CAMRA member, following a heart attack. Although Dave was revived and taken to intensive care, he had a damaged brain and failing heart and kidneys and died a week later at 6pm on 25 June.
Dave was a jovial, bearded guy who could often be seen working behind the bar at Walsall Beer Festival. His enthusiasm for real ale was unsurpassed.
Our thoughts are with his family and close friends.

Highgate Brewery Takeover
It has been announced that Highgate Brewery has been taken over by Global Star, a company based in Smethwick with a chain of around 100 pubs.
The latest information we have from the brewery is that the new owners will produce a strategy from 2008 onwards with the intent of increasing production and raising brand awareness within the West Midlands, particularly on the latest Davenports cask IPA and Highgate Mild.
They plan to expand the pub estate with further acquisitions and they also plan to commence refurbishment of the brewhouse.
